In a Solemn Speech, Kamala Harris Delivers Final Argument Against Trump One Week Before U.S. Election.
Democratic candidate Kamala Harris made her final case against her Republican opponent Donald Trump on Tuesday, addressing tens of thousands of supporters in Washington as the race for the White House enters its final week.
Speaking to a crowd of over 75,000 people at an outdoor rally near the White House, Harris accused Trump of seeking unchecked power if elected. The rally was held at the same location where Trump addressed his supporters on January 6, 2021, shortly before the attack on the U.S. Capitol.
“We know who Donald Trump is,” Harris declared. “He sent an armed mob to the Capitol to overturn the results of the 2020 election.”
Describing her opponent as “unstable, obsessed with revenge, consumed by grievances, and seeking unchecked power,” Harris framed the November 5 election as a crucial turning point in protecting democracy.
With American flags flanking the stage and blue-and-white banners reading ‘FREEDOM’ surrounding her, Harris stood against the backdrop of an illuminated White House. She urged voters to stay engaged in the democratic process and warned of the risks posed by a potential Trump presidency.
A Reuters/Ipsos poll released Tuesday revealed that Harris’s lead over Trump had narrowed to 44% versus 43% among registered voters.
Although Harris has maintained a lead in every Reuters/Ipsos poll since joining the race in July, her margin has steadily diminished since late September, underscoring the highly competitive nature of this election.
Both campaigns are now focused on mobilizing voters in key swing states, with turnout expected to play a decisive role in what is shaping up to be one of the closest elections in U.S. history.
