Pork Dynasty Recalls RTE Fried Pork Skin Products

Houston, Texas -based Pork Dynasty Inc. is recalling around 469 pounds of ready-to-eat or RTE fried pork skin products citing misbranding and undeclared soy, a known allergen, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service or FSIS.

The recall involves, regardless of the product date, 3.5-oz. plastic bags containing “Texarones Born In The Philippines – Made In Texas Fried Out Pork Fat With Attached Skin Spicy.”; as well as 2.5-oz. plastic bags containing “Texarones Born In The Philippines – Made In Texas Fried Pork Skin Spicy.”

These impacted products, with establishment number “EST. 46015” inside the USDA mark of inspection, were shipped to retail and restaurant locations in Texas.

The recall was initiated after the agency discovered the issue during its routine in-plant verification activities. FSIS personnel observed that a seasoning containing soy was being used as an ingredient and soy was not declared on the finished product label.

However, there have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of these products so far.

Over concern that some product may be in consumers’ pantries, the FSIS urged them to throw away or return the impacted products to the place of purchase.

In similar recalls, Dearborn, Michigan-based Dearborn Sausage Co. earlier this month called back around 1,944 pounds of RTE wiener products citing misbranding and undeclared allergens. The labels of the two products implicated in the recall were inadvertently swapped resulting in soy and pork not being declared on the product labels.
