President Trump delays TikTok deal
Trump is reportedly considering his options for a possible TikTok deal.
President Donald Trump declared that he would once more delay the implementation of the TikTok sale-or-ban rule for seventy-five days. Trump stated he would postpone the law’s January implementation in an attempt to strike an agreement to keep the app “alive,”
The postponement follows Trump’s tariff announcement, which ruined an agreement to give American ownership of the app control over its US operations. “We have made great strides in the Deal to SAVE TIKTOK, which my Administration has been working very hard on.”
Trump wrote in a post on Truth Social that “the Deal needs more work to ensure all necessary approvals are signed.”.
Trump first postponed the ban by 75 days when he took office in January, and now the announcement comes just one day before it was supposed to take effect.
Former President Joe Biden signed a law last year requiring ByteDance, the parent company of TikTok, based in China, to sell the app or risk a US ban.
Trump and Vice President JD Vance, who was assigned to spearhead the TikTok dealmaking effort, have repeatedly stated that they anticipate reaching an agreement by the deadline of April 5.
According to the source with knowledge of the agreement, a deal was reached on Wednesday, and Trump was scheduled to approve it in an executive order later this week
