Two Major Changes Make Amazon Stock Worth Another Look

Amazon (AMZN) is shaking things up and making bold moves as they plan their content and business strategies for 2025 and beyond, including a major IP acquisition and changes in management.

Amazon recently acquired full creative control of the James Bond IP. In 2022, the online retailer purchased the right to make movies, television shows, and other media based on the British spy. However, any plans to make content based off the IP stalled as Amazon executives and creatives continually ran up against the create control exercised by Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli. Each idea that Amazon came up with for James Bond was shot down by the original IP holders.

However, everything changed in February of 2025 when Amazon purchased full creative control over the property. There is no finished script and no announced plans for new content yet, but investors can be sure that Amazon will not waste any time in getting new James Bond content out the door now that they have freedom to do so in whatever way they wish.

Amazon Removes Middle Managers

“Flattening the hierarchy” is what Amazon’s new management shakeup is being called. Amazon’s CEO Bill Anderson said that the company has hired a lot of people, which has resulted in middle managers receiving much of the power. They don’t always make the best choices, he said, and he wants to give some of the power back to the employees.

His efforts are designed to cut back on unnecessary meetings and to increase the number of individual contributors, especially in relation to managers. His goal is to see that take full effect by the end of this year’s first quarter. The benefit, he says, is that individual employees will have more freedom and power, and the company will become more mobile. The expectation is that employees will manage themselves more and will as a result create a better spirit of unity within the company.

Amazon stock is priced at $205, up 0.69% from the previous day.
