Another Record High for Dow Jones and S&P 500

The S&P 500 and Dow Jones closed at historic highs, with the S&P posting its 22nd record closing in 2024. The Dow Industrial Average is now fewer than 200 points away from reaching the milestone of Dow Jones at 40,000 points. However, the NASDAQ index closed down for the day, showing a different trend compared to the S&P and Dow.
S&P 500 Chart Daily – MAs Keeping It Well Supported
For the quarter, the S&P index led the way with a gain of more than 10%, indicating strong performance in the stock market. The NASDAQ index reached a new session high, surpassing the previous high of March 21. The S&P index is expected to complete the quarter with gains of more than 10%, marking the highest first-quarter increase since 2019.
Dow Jones Daily Chart – Peaking Above Last Week’s High
The current gain is reported to be 10.30%. Since the beginning of November when the pullback in stock ended, the S&P index has risen by around 28%. In today’s trading session, the S&P index reached a session high of 5,264 points, making a new intraday all-time high after pushing above last week’s high at 5,260 points. The index remained relatively unchanged, with slight fluctuations observed throughout the day. The US stock market will be closed tomorrow in observance of Good Friday.
